Home For the Holidays

 

"Oh, there's no place like home for the holidays
'Cause no matter how far away you roam
When you pine for the sunshine of a friendly gaze
For the holidays you can't beat home, sweet home"

 

 

     Something very exciting is happening for us this holiday season.  For the first time in over two years we will be together!  This will be, in fact, the first time our whole family will be able to be in the same room in over two whole years!  The excitement is bubbling up becoming too much to contain, so we had to call each other today just so we could squeal and share the joy. 

 

     Having been separated from our family for so long has brought us greater perspective of how important family is.  We like to believe we have a pretty darn special family, that credit going mostly to our amazing parents.  Our family is one that no matter what any of us go through, no matter how ugly, scary, or unpleasant it may be, our parents are always there.  There is also no better group to share the joys and highs of our lives than with our family.   

 

     The thought of being home with our family has brought so much excitement and anticipation.  We've had so much fun planning and looking forward to so many fun things we've been missing the last couple of years.  One thing we are most excited about is for our children to be together again.  They are all really close in age and were good buddies before we moved so far away.  Looking forward to sharing those special Christmas memories brings us true joy. 

 

     This is part of the true meaning of Christmas.  It is not about what we are getting each other or how many Christmas lights we get to see, but experiencing and sharing that pure love and happiness that can only be felt through love and the Spirit of Christ.
